The Lord can restore – Preaching

Preaching Outline on II Kings 6:1-7 – And the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, “Behold, the place where we dwell before you is narrow for us. Let us go down to the Jordan, and let us each take a beam from there, and let us make ourselves a place to dwell there. And he said, “Go.

And one said, “Go with your servants. And he said, “I will go.

And he went with them, and when they came to the Jordan, they cut down wood.

And it came to pass, as one of them was breaking down a beam, that the iron fell into the water; and he cried out and said: Alas, my lord! Because it was borrowed.

And the man of God said, “Where did it fall? And he showed him the place, and cut down a stick, and cast it there, and made the iron swim. And he said, “Take it up. Then he stretched out his hand and took it.

Introduction to II Kings 6:1-7

The experiences of the servants in the Old Testament had a great teaching purpose on God’s part. The sons of the prophets lived in a place that, according to the word, was “narrow”; there was no point in staying there.

My brothers and sisters, we don’t conform to this world, because the world for us is “narrow”, cramped, difficult, that’s why our Maranatha cry is come Lord Jesus.

Development

“… Behold, the place where we dwell is narrow…”

The Church puts before the Lord this cry that the world is narrow.

“… Let’s go down to the Jordan and each of us take a beam from there…”

They invited Elisha to join them, to take the beam (that which supports the weight, structure).

The servant’s journey requires a structural framework (prayer, fasting, reading God’s word). A servant with a structural framework bears the weight of struggles and trials and strengthens his or her journey towards eternity.

They would have to work in the Jordan, get involved, do the service. My brothers, there are works we need to do, we must get involved.

“… When one of them knocked over a beam, the iron fell. Oh, my Lord, it was borrowed. “ In this prophetic hour, many are losing many values in their lives, everything we have here in this life is borrowed, we came out naked from our mother’s womb.

…The iron fell into the water and said: Oh, my Lord. Don’t let yourself lose grace, mercy, blessing, salvation… Elisha could have asked, why did he fall, what happened? But that’s not what he said, he asked where he fell?

The Lord doesn’t condemn, he doesn’t point out our faults, he doesn’t impute sin! That’s why the word says: “I will remember your sin no more. Old things have passed away and all things have become new.

And each of us knows where we fell (lost), 1st love, joy, serving with the Lord. He confessed, he cried out. My brothers, the Lord we serve hears our cry. The Lord does not reject a contrite and broken heart. Tonight you are to present your contrite life; he will not reject it.

Conclusion

“… He cut the stick and threw it over there.”

How could a stick be thrown into the water and make an iron float? When God is in our lives, great miracles happen.

He threw himself into the waters with the sole purpose of bringing back the iron. As the wood descended into the waters, the iron rose.

God restores everything in the servant’s life, all we have to do is cry out to him and we will receive the answer

Tonight is the night to tell the Lord where you fell, where you lost, where you failed.

This service of restoration…

You are willing, my brothers, to rescue, so tell the Lord: it was here. And he will restore.
