Don’t take communion out of your life – Preaching
Preaching Outline on Genesis 19:5 – “And they called Lot and said to him: Where are the men who came to you this night? Bring them out to us, that we may know them.”
Introduction to Genesis 19:5
During the afternoon and into the evening, Lot was visited by two angels of God and took them into his house.
The most important thing we have in our lives at this time of darkness and sin in the world is our communion with God. The 2 is a symbol that points to communion, as a Body. We need to bring Communion into our lives.
Development
There was a moment when some men came and wanted to enter Lot’s house and take away the two angels that were there. They threatened Lot, but Lot didn’t hand over the two angels.
“Bring them out…”
There are things, situations, that come before us and their whole purpose is to kill our communion. They want to take away our communion with God. My brothers and sisters, we cannot throw away our communion with God, take it out of our lives. We cannot give it up for nothing. If we lose communion, we lose everything.
“…that we may know them…”
A servant’s communion with God is a secret. There are people who don’t understand this. They want to know our communion. What is this communion? Why are you different?
That they don’t understand when we stay silent in a difficult moment, when they expect a murmur.
That they don’t understand our zeal for the things of the Lord, when they expect us to be liberal.
Conclusion of Genesis 19:5
Those men entered Lot’s house, but they didn’t manage to kill the two angels; on the contrary, they were blinded and ineffective.
Struggles may come into our lives. Difficulties may enter, but they won’t be able to destroy our communion, they won’t be effective.
Just as the two angels brought Lot out of Sodom and Gomorrah, what will bring the Church out of this world is its communion with God. Take care of your communion.
