Exodus 33:14 – My presence will go with you

My presence will go with you – Preaching

Preaching Outline Exodus 33:14 – “And he said: My presence will go with you to make you rest.”

Introductionto Exodus 33:14

The people’s whole desire was to have rest from all the struggles and trials they had faced for approximately 400 years, namely:
– coming out of slavery into freedom (“and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” John 8:32);
– coming out of the land of Egypt into the land of promise.

When the people left Egypt, they had a NORTH, they were under a promise (the Land flowing with milk and honey). However, from the promise to the possession of the land, they would face many struggles, challenges and obstacles.

Some of the challenges:
– Pharaoh’s opposition (= oppressions)
– The inhospitable desert (= adversities of life)
– no bread, no water, heat, cold, sandstorms;
– An unsettled mentality among the people.

MOSES’ FEELINGS

Moses, more than the other companions and more than the people, knew the limitations of the men of Israel. Moses knew the superiority of Egypt. He was aware that he would only win with God’s assistance. Moses’ prayer: “Then he said to him: If your presence is not with us, do not bring us up from here” Exodus 33:15.

GOD’S ANSWER

– “My presence will go with you to give you rest.”
– The tabernacle (the Father’s plan) was built for this rest;
– There was no lack of food:
– The manna that fell from heaven every day (word of truth = Jesus – Bread of Life);
– The water that flowed from the rock (Holy Spirit – water of life);
– The quails (the living bread that came down from heaven);
– There was no lack of direction;
– The cloud during the day;
– The torch of fire at night.

APPLICATION TO OUR LIVES

Our experience has been the same!

1st – Promises:

God’s promises are like a beacon of hope in the midst of life’s difficulties. They assure us that God is in control of all things and that He has a good plan for us.

Our God has called us to live a great experience of Salvation, where we will see his promises fulfilled every day on this journey. God has taken responsibility for his promises and we just have to believe and wait patiently.

By meditating on God’s promises and believing in them, we can have faith, hope and strength to face life’s challenges.

2nd – Obstacles:

It’s not easy to walk in the presence of the Lord, every day many oppositions arise, especially in our hearts, which become hardened at times during the journey. We can see that Moses faced many obstacles with some of the Israelites who corrupted themselves and became opponents of God’s plan.

We will face many obstacles on this journey, but there is a promise for those who persevere. The phrase “in the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33) is one of the best known and loved by God’s servants. It was said by the Lord Jesus during the Last Supper, when he was preparing his disciples for his departure and for the difficulties they would face in the world and on their journey.

3rd – Security:

But the presence of the Lord has made us rest, even in the face of many obstacles and adversities our God has taken care of us, has sent us his Holy Spirit who has comforted us and taught us all things.

Today:

– where we came from – slavery;
– where we are – on the road (Jesus)
– who leads us – the Holy Spirit; (Holy Spirit)
– where we are going – life (Father)

Conclusion of Exodus 33:14

We walk towards eternity, which is God’s great rest for his chosen ones, confident in the Lord’s promises and certain of the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives, comforting and guiding our steps before our God.

Who are we going to?

Only Jesus has the words of eternal life, and his promises are faithful and true.
