Take pleasure in your salvation again – Preaching

Preaching Outline on Genesis 18:12 – “And Sarah laughed with herself, saying, Shall I still have pleasure when I am old, and my lord is old?”

Introduction to Genesis 18:12

What the Lord did in Sarah’s life was beyond anything she could have imagined. For her, at that moment, nothing else could be done. She believed that she would not be able to give birth to anything else. But God is not limited like man. He was going to make Sarah bear children, even though she was already old.

There are times on our journey when many areas of our lives seem to age, and faith is often one of them. When this happens, it creates a barrier, an impediment to God working. The Lord’s intervention is needed to restore and generate something new in our lives.

Development

Along with Sarah’s chronological age, her faith and hope grew older.

Can the Holy Spirit renew a believer’s life?

Two questions:

  • Is it possible for something new to happen in the life of a believer who has grown old?
  • Can the Holy Spirit still do something new in the lives of those who have given up hope?

It may be difficult to imagine something new in the life of someone who has grown old spiritually. But the same Holy Spirit who worked before can still work today.

Lamentations 3:22-23“It is the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, for his mercies have no end; they are new every morning.”

How many years have passed without you having a new experience with God? How many believers, like Sarah, measure the operation of the Holy Spirit and no longer take pleasure in salvation?

Something new needs to be created!

Can someone who has grown old feel pleasure again?

  • Can a young man who has wept at the Lord’s feet ever weep again?
  • Can a woman who once believed in her family’s salvation believe again?
  • Can a worker who loved the Work of God love it again?

📖 Psalm 51:12“Give me again the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.”

God renews what has grown old! Just as He restored Sarah’s life and brought back the joy of the promise, He wants to restore your joy and renew your faith.

“Since my master is already old?”

Sarah looked at Abraham and saw an old man. She believed that her natural resources were the only ones that could generate something new. But it was God who would bring life and joy again.

  • Has God’s love grown old for you?
  • Do you think He can no longer work in your life?
  • Do you believe that the days of experiences with God are behind us?

Isaiah 40:31“But those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”

Conclusion of Genesis 18:12

The Lord has brought you here to tell you that even if your faith has grown old, He wants to restore it!

  • Take pleasure in praising again.
  • Take pleasure in believing again.
  • Take pleasure in being in God’s presence again.
  • Take pleasure in serving Him again, because God has never grown old!

📖 Hebrews 13:8“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.”

Just as he restored Sarah’s joy, he wants to give you a new experience.

The Lord will return to take us to eternity! If your faith has grown old, declare today: “LORD, I WANT TO FEEL PLEASURE IN YOUR SALVATION AGAIN!”

May God renew your faith and restore your joy today!
