Jesus, the dawn – Preaching
Preaching Outline on Exodus 19:16-17 – “And it came to pass on the third day at dawn, that there were thunders and lightnings and a thick cloud on the mountain; and there was a loud sound of a horn, so that all the people who were in the camp trembled. And Moses led the people out of the camp to meet God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain…”
Introduction to Exodus 19:16-17
The people of Israel had left Egypt, where they had been in slavery for 430 years. Now in the desert, the Lord was preparing them for a new dawn (Jesus), a new order of things. The Lord would give them the tablets of the law, a new way of leading, which no other people had.
Israel had prepared for that moment, the people consecrated themselves, the boundaries were set at Mount Sinai, there was great fear in their hearts. “God was going to speak to the people”
Like what happened to Israel, a new day (Jesus) has dawned for the church, pointing out a new and living way through his death and resurrection.
Development
“…On the third day, at dawn…”
Jesus’ resurrection brought us the dawn of a new day, the period of grace was beginning, free salvation for everyone, without exception, just by letting Jesus into your heart.
“…there was thunder and lightning and a thick cloud on the mountain…”
The glory of the Lord descended on the mountain, declaring to all the judgments of the Lord. The glory of the Lord is in his work, his presence fills this place and he wants to fill your life.
“…and there was the sound of a very loud horn, so that all the people who were in the camp trembled…”
The sound of the horn is the voice of the Holy Spirit, who announces the day of Salvation for mankind, the church recognizes this sound, because it is the sound of celebration. God is present.
“…and Moses led the people out of the camp to meet God…”
Jesus, who is risen, will return to take us out of the world and bring us to meet the Father in eternity.
Conclusion of Exodus 19:16-17
“…and they stood at the foot of the mountain…”
The church will forever be in the communion of the Father, from whom it will receive new statutes and an eternal ordination.
