Jesus, the lamb of God – Preaching
Preaching Outline on Genesis 22:7 – “Then Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, ‘My father! And he said, Behold, my son! And he said, Behold the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”
Introduction to Genesis 22:7
Man has lost and is looking for his reference point with God, which is life. Eternal life.
The loss of this reference point has brought man consequences, including death; it is a great challenge and longing for him to find something to replace death with life.
In the search for this benchmark, he accepts whatever he thinks is best, most convenient, making him dissatisfied, because the benchmark he chooses doesn’t meet his greatest need, which is that of the soul.
Development
Arriving in the land of Moriah, Isaac and his father Abraham prepared everything for the sacrifice, as God had instructed.
The victim for the sacrifice would be Isaac, but he didn’t know and was worried about the absence of the lamb, as the victim for the sacrifice was of fundamental importance. So he asked his father a question: Where is the lamb?
The absence of the lamb meant death for Isaac, but God provided the lamb that replaced Isaac. Thus, the presence of the lamb meant life for Isaac; for in death is life.
The man who has no frame of reference with God asks: where is the lamb? Where is Jesus? Because he has many plans, but he knows he’s dying.
God, in the ultimate expression of his love, provides the lamb. Jesus, because in his death and resurrection is the life that replaces man’s death.
Conclusion of Genesis 22:7
Everything is ready. In this last Hour, the Holy Spirit has spoken to man clearly and precisely, and he is not deceived.
God answers the man’s question by giving Jesus to die in his place, exchanging the man’s death for the eternal life that is in Jesus.
In this way, man no longer has to die, he now has a point of reference again, if he accepts it: Jesus, the lamb of God, who leads man into eternity.
