Judah was chosen – Preaching

Preaching Outline on Joshua 19:1-9 – “And the inheritance of Simeon was in the midst of the inheritance of the children of Judah. The inheritance of the sons of Simeon was taken from the portion of the sons of Judah.”

Introduction to Joshua 19:1-9

The text read describes the inheritance of the tribe of Simeon, which was taken from the portion of the sons of Judah.

Development

The Lord chose the tribe of Judah to produce the Messiah, and he kept the kingdom in his hand from David until the last king crowned in Israel, who was the Lord Jesus himself (Matthew 27:29).

The birthright belonged to Joseph, as we read in 1 Chronicles 5:1. But the Lord chose the tribe of Judah (Psalm 78:67-72).

Judah represents the prophetic

He was Jacob’s fourth son (Genesis 29:35). So this choice has nothing to do with reason, custom, tradition or the law.
It is a discretionary act of God’s sovereignty.

Simeon means “the one who listens”

Thus, we see in the text the meeting of the prophetic with the one who values prophecy.
The meeting of the one who owns the inheritance, who owns eternity (Jesus), with the one who listens to prophecy (the faithful church).

The inheritance of the one who listens to prophecy is in the prophetic milieu.
The Lord Jesus will share his kingdom with the faithful church.

In Judges 1:3, the tribe of Judah invites the tribe of Simeon: “Come up with me to my inheritance. And let us fight against the Canaanites, and I will also come up to your inheritance. And Simeon went with him.”

Conclusion of Joshua 19:1-9

The Lord Jesus extends the same invitation to the church: come with me to my inheritance – fight for it. Seek spiritual blessings, your salvation, and I will also be with you in your struggles in this life, and help you achieve victory.
