Preaching Outline on Ruth 3:6 – Then she went to the threshing floor and did according to all that her mother-in-law had commanded her.

Introduction to Ruth 3:6

Reading the story of Ruth, we can draw a prophetic parallel with the project of Salvation in the life of man.

Development of Ruth 3:6

Ruth = Foreigner – goes to Boaz (Jesus), on Naomi’s advice.

Naomi knew very well that God would be leading Ruth’s steps, because she had already set her heart on serving Naomi’s God.

Ruth reminds us very much of a man without God, without direction, a foreigner who had no right to the blessing that was upon the people of Israel, but God granted the escape to change the trajectory of the man’s life in Jesus.

Ruth and Naomi were in dire need of sustenance, of a new life after having lost everything. So Naomi tells Ruth to look for Boaz.

Boaz is a type of Jesus

At that time, there was the law of levirate, which stipulated that if a husband died leaving no descendants, his brother had to marry the widow and have a child with her to ensure the continuity of the family. After becoming a widow and the death of her brother-in-law, Ruth saw that the law could be applied by a close relative.

Boaz was a possible rescuer because he was related to Elimelech, Ruth’s father-in-law. And that’s exactly what he does.

A man who understood his role and took it on. In chapter 3 (verse 9), Ruth clearly introduces herself to Boaz and tells him about her role in the story. Boaz doesn’t hide, he doesn’t run away, and he does what needs to be done to become the rescuer.

When Christ came to this world to save us from darkness, he was fully aware of his mission and never hesitated to fulfill his role, which was to die. Jesus Christ is our rescuer; in addition to rescuing us, He transformed our history.

Ruth received a reward for her determination and faithfulness. She enters a royal lineage (of King David) and a divine lineage (of the Lord Jesus). Ruth represents the Church of the Lord Jesus, often suffering, but victorious; for she has been redeemed by the precious blood of Christ.

The book of Ruth talks about God, who governs everything and supports those who trust in him. Believe that the Lord Jesus can change your story, no matter how difficult it may seem. He can turn tears into joy and death into life. Trust in the Lord’s support!
