The call of Bezaleel and Aholiab – Preaching

Preaching Outline on Exodus 31:2-6 – Behold, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, and understanding, and knowledge in every craft, to devise inventions, and to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, and in hewing of stones for setting, and in working of wood, to work in every craft. And, behold, I have put with him Aholiab the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, and have given wisdom to the heart of every one who is wise in heart, that they may do all that I have commanded you,

Development

After receiving all the instructions for the tabernacle, the various utensils that would be used and the priestly garments, the Lord nominally calls these two men to do everything that Moses had received as a command from God (Exodus 31:6d).

Chosen by God

It must have been a very great honor for those two men, having been chosen by God in the midst of a nation where the number, only men from the age of twenty upwards, was six hundred and three thousand and five hundred and fifty (Exodus 38:26).

In addition, the Lord told them which tribe they were from and the name of their father and grandfather, so that there would be no mistake.

These men were filled with the spirit of wisdom and skill to work on all the materials that would be used to make all the pieces.

Follow the revelation

The only detail was that they hadn’t seen the tabernacle – only Moses had seen it and knew how each part worked, so it should be exactly the same.

So they had to be in constant contact with Moses so that he could check that every detail was according to plan, if they needed to redo anything, etc.

Conclusion of Exodus 31:2-6

Likewise, the servant has been called to do the Lord’s work, but no one but the Holy Spirit knows how all things should be done and the reason for every revelation, every direction, every detail.

We depend on the Holy Spirit for everything. Without Him, things wouldn’t be done exactly as the Lord showed us back in Eternity.

The Word says that these men not only did everything as it should be done, but taught other men how to do it – this is the function of every servant in the Lord’s work.
(Exodus 36:1; Exodus 38:22; Exodus 39:1 and 32).

The Lord’s blessing is on those who do the work as the Lord has revealed (Exodus 39:42-43).
