The meeting – Preaching
Preaching Outline on Genesis 33:1-4 – And Jacob lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, Esau was coming, and four hundred men with him. So he divided the children between Leah and Rachel and the two maidservants. And he put the maidservants and their sons in front, and Leah and her sons behind, but Rachel and Joseph last. And he himself passed before them, and bowed himself to the earth seven times, until he came to his brother. Then Esau ran to meet him and embraced him, and fell on his neck and kissed him, and they wept.
Introduction to Genesis 33:1-4
There are times when the greatest needs are not outside, but inside, compromising communion, joy, respect, affection and love. The words we read portray the lives of (02) two brothers, Esau and Jacob, who grew apart because of their choices.
The birthright blessing belonged to Esau, the eldest son, but he rejected it. By choice, Esau exchanged it for a plate of lentils. Unlike Esau, Jacob struggled to obtain the blessing.
After obtaining what he wanted, Jacob was forced to leave the land of his fathers because of Esau’s threat, so Jacob went to live in a distant land. My blessings, the choice we make determines who we are. God blesses those who are committed to the blessing, the project and salvation.
Even though he lived far from the land, God did not fail to bless Jacob, because the blessing is not on earth, the blessing comes from on high. How many people are rejecting, not valuing, preoccupied with what is ephemeral for this life.
Development
But God finished the return, Jacob knew on his return what he would face, Esau was incompassionate, destined to keep his word, but he still obeyed the Lord’s advice.
“… Then Esau ran to meet him…”
When he saw his brother Jacob, he was full of worries, certainly restless. Esau is the type of person who acts by reason, flesh, impulse. But we must act according to the word, as the Bible says: I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
“…He bowed down to the earth seven times, until his brother came…”
My brothers and sisters, we must hurry to be at the Lord’s feet, to put our faces in the dust, where Jacob stayed until his brother came. We must pray without ceasing for our family members, until they can come to us, freed, transformed, healed and strengthened.
What an unexpected meeting!
Embraced – A welcoming feeling, leading to feeling the warmth of the body, enveloping it in the communion of the church.
He threw himself on his neck – Communion was restored, what had been an impediment was no longer there, the Holy Spirit was at work.
They cried – Evidence of the past no longer exists, the Bible says: Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
Conclusion
There he showed Jacob’s unique position and his characteristic. Where the Lord can restore, forgive, any resentment, because at the end of it all there remains LOVE FOR THAT GOD MAINTAINS A CHURCH THAT PRAYS, SO THAT IT CAN SEE MIRACLES, THROUGH PRAYER.
