The midwives keep the baby alive – Preaching
Preaching outline on Exodus 1:15-17 – The king of Egypt spoke to the midwives of the Hebrew women, one of whom was called Siphrah and the other Puah, saying, “When you help the Hebrew women to give birth, and see them on the seats, if it is a son, you shall kill him; but if it is a daughter, she shall live. But the midwives feared God and did not do as the king of Egypt had commanded them, but kept the children alive.
Theme: Evangelization, benefits of working on the body
Objective: To lead the church to an experience of evangelization
Introduction to Exodus 1:15-17
– In the same way, God has a plan of salvation for man,
– The adversary has the opposite project – to turn man away from the Lord
THE Pharaoh TRAMA (Adversary)
– Pharaoh is disturbed by the growth and strength of the Hebrew people
– Pharaoh orders the death of all male children.
– His intention was to achieve two goals:
– To cause a shortage of males so that, in the future, the Hebrew women would have to marry Egyptian men (loss of the identity of a people living under a promise; mixing the church with the world).
– Even further, to prevent the birth of Jesus (who was to be born of that people) by interfering in God’s plan for man’s salvation.
– We can see that it was a long-term project.
CURRENT SITUATION
– Today is no different: the project to destroy the opposition is still underway, with the same goals in mind:
– To make man more and more committed to the things of the world and live far from the promise of the Lord.
– Stop Jesus from swimming in the heart of man.
THE MIDWIVES – THE FAITHFUL CHURCH
– Pharaoh establishes a death decree on the life of man – Sifré and Puá (the midwives) are ordered to kill all the male children of the Hebrews.
– But they did not obey. They feared God and;“… but kept the child alive” (vs. 17)
– There is a faithful church, which has no part in this world, which has not listened to the advice of the adversary. It fears God and only listens to the voice of the Holy Spirit.
– Pharaoh’s decree is to kill. Instead, the church makes sure that Jesus can be born in the heart of man (“... but they kept the child alive“). A people that prays, dawns, fasts, witnesses, assists, invites to services, to great evangelizations, weeps at the Lord’s feet to ensure that Jesus is born in the heart of man.
Conclusion of Exodus 1:15-17
THE BENEFITS FOR THE CHURCH
– What are the benefits for the church that works to generate life?
Vs 20 ” So God did good to the midwives. And the people were greatly increased and strengthened.”
– “Therefore” (as a result of the church’s work), the Lord did good to the midwives.
– Working in this work of God is beneficial to our lives. God does good for us (individual experiences with the Lord – deliverances, health, prosperity, spiritual gifts)
– But it also generates benefits for the body – the flock increases, lives are saved and the body is strengthened.
Vs 21 And it came to pass, as the midwives feared God, that he established houses for them.
– And then there’s the greatest benefit of all – one day dwelling with the Lord in the heavenly mansions, in the dwellings that the Lord himself has prepared for his faithful church.
