Prayer at the ninth hour – Preaching

Preaching Outline on Acts 3:1 – “And Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.”

Introduction to Acts 3:1

That was Peter and John’s commitment to be at the Lord’s house at the ninth hour (3pm in our time).

Development

The interesting thing is that it all happened at the ninth hour. At this time we turn to the Gospels and some wonderful events take place:

a) The time when Jesus concluded the project: “It is finished.”

The Word says that at the ninth hour, Jesus cried out and expired. But first, he said “It is finished”. The project was finished. My brothers and sisters, the ninth hour is our prophetic hour. Tonight we have a commitment to prayer, we go up to the house of the Lord to pray, and our prayers recall the sacrifice of Jesus.

And when we cry out, God remembers the sacrifice of His Son for us. When we go up to the house of the Lord in the Body (like Peter and John), we go up at a prophetic time, we go up to pray and remember the sacrifice, that is, when we pray, the blood of the Lamb of God who was slain allows our prayers to be accepted before the Father.

b) The veil of the temple was torn

At the ninth hour, the veil of the temple was torn from top to bottom, giving us full access to the Holy of Holies.

c) The earth shook and the rocks cracked.

When we pray in the prophetic hour, what seems impossible and unchangeable to our eyes moves. The earth shakes. What is earthly, our struggles, move from place to place. It is God’s action in this earthly life.

d) The stones split

The stone in front of us, in other words, an illness, a problem that can’t seem to be solved. When we pray in the prophetic hour, problems are cracked, undone.

e) Many were resurrected…

Doing God’s will causes many who are asleep to be spiritually resurrected, in other words, prayer in the Body raises up the sleeper.

Conclusion of Acts 3:1

To go up to the house of the Lord at the ninth hour is to go up with a prophetic understanding. An understanding of commitment. In this last prophetic hour, the church has heeded the leading of the Holy Spirit, in the Body, and has gone up to the house of the Lord to seek an experience.

Going up at the ninth hour is remembering the sacrifice. To go up in prayer at the ninth hour is to go up by faith, believing that we are keeping our lamp burning, our faith is added. It’s going up believing in the supremacy of faith over works.
