Awake, you who sleep – Preaching

Preaching Outline on Ephesians 5:14-16 – Wherefore he saith, Awake, thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead; and Christ shall raise thee up. Wherefore take heed how ye walk, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

THEME: Awake, you who sleep.

Introduction to Ephesians 5:14-16

It is necessary to be vigilant at all times, not to sleep. Those who desire eternity need to be on their feet, ready to climb. And be wise in walking, redeeming the time, that is, taking advantage of the opportunity we have today to prepare for Jesus’ coming return.

Development

Because in salvation I am ELECTED by God, then CALLED by Jesus and day by day THE SALVATION PROCESS takes place, carried out by the Holy Spirit, gradually leading to my spiritual growth. Spiritual decay is also a gradual process towards spiritual death. In the story of Samson, while he slept, his enemies patiently surrounded him until they arrested him and made him a slave.

Wake up, you who sleep

We are living in a prophetic moment in which many are in a spiritual slumber, which has affected even some of the Lord’s servants. But it’s time to wake up. The Holy Spirit has been quietly working in many hearts, because the time of the Lord Jesus’ return is drawing near.

…and rise from the dead

We must be concerned not to be counted among those who will not inherit eternal life, which unfortunately are many. Those who have listened to the Word of the Lord and put it into practice are being preserved, while the faithful pray and cry out, our God has awakened many.

We have to take a stand, we have to get up to see God at work in our lives.

…and Christ will lift you up

Jesus Christ is the center of everything in our lives, his light dispels the darkness that often wants to cover us up, to suffocate the Lord’s project in our lives.

Receiving the light of Christ is the result of answering God’s call, of standing up. We must not bow down to sin and everything the world has put in front of us. Christ is enough!

…be careful how you walk

The Lord invites us to weigh up our journey, to reflect on how we are walking in his presence, it’s time to be prudent and follow the true path we should be walking. All this with wisdom, which is given by the action of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

…redeeming the time, for the days are evil.

We must take advantage of every moment of communion with the Lord and with the faithful Church, the days in which we live are bad, we need to make good choices and preserve our salvation.

Conclusion of Ephesians 5:14-16

It’s time to pray and watch, because spiritual decay is gradual and little by little the servant is leaving his commitment to the Lord. Every day we have to make a choice: run away from God’s plan or accept and remain in God’s sovereign will. This is an individual choice!

Preaching Outline on Ephesians 5:14-16-14 Wherefore he saith, Awake, thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead; and Christ shall raise thee up. Therefore see that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
