Family of God – Preaching
Preaching Outline on Ephesians 2:19 – Therefore you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of God’s household,
Introduction to Ephesians 2:19
The family is an institution created by God and, even if man tries to destroy it, he can’t, because for man to be born, he passes through a family bond.
Every man knows a family, or lives in a family, making it easy to understand salvation, as is always the Lord’s purpose.
JUDGMENT AND SALVATION
The word of the Lord shows us that we can only achieve salvation if we are in a family.
When the judgments came upon man, there was always escape, salvation, and God saves only one family in each judgment.
a) Flood
In the flood, the Lord saves Noah’s family because they listened to God’s voice.
b) Sodom and Gomorrah
In the judgment on Sodom and Gomorrah, the Lord saved Lot’s family from destruction through the intercession of Abraham (his uncle).
c) Jericho
In the judgment of destruction on Jericho, the Lord saves Rahab’s family.
d) Egypt
When the people left Egypt, there was a family (Israel), and the Lord created a plan and executed it through Moses to save them.
There is an imminent judgment on the earth, because the prophecies point to this moment, and the Lord has prepared a plan of salvation for man through the Lord Jesus.
When they told the Lord Jesus that his mother and brothers were outside wanting to see him, he said: ” Whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.
The family of the Lord Jesus was being formed and continues with those who wish to do the Father’s will.
Conclusion of Ephesians 2:19
Israel, which rejected Jesus, is a single family, because Israel (who was Jacob), was the patriarch of this family that began with the promise to Abraham, his grandfather. But we are not of the same family, and salvation is extended to every man, fulfilling the promise made to Abraham himself “…in you all the families of the earth will be blessed”.
But for salvation we have to be of the same family – Jesus’ family.
In order to know if we are from the same family, we have to have the same blood, and the Lord’s plan leaves no doubt, being the same, because he sends his son (Jesus) to create a family by pouring out his blood, which is the Holy Spirit. And when man receives the Holy Spirit, he becomes part of this family. That is why we are brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus, the son who shed his blood, so that each one who receives this blood (Holy Spirit) may also be called a child of God, forming the family of God.
“…you are not strangers or foreigners, but…of the household of God.
