God’s will – Preaching

Preaching Outline on Hebrews 10:9 – “Behold, I come, O God, to do your will; take away the first, to establish the second.”

Development

To understand God’s project as a “way of life”, as a “change of life” is not so simple, it never has been. You have to renounce yourself, you have to know and understand God’s word through the Holy Spirit, you have to be willing, dedicated, humble, patient and loving, love your neighbor as yourself and recognize Jesus’ sacrifice.

“Remove the first to establish the second” What do you mean?

The text refers to the abolition of the old covenant, mainly with regard to the fall of the sacrificial system. In a very succinct but nonetheless objective way, let’s look at the comparison below, which shows the differences between the two types of sacrifice:

I. The sacrifice presented in the Old Testament:

In the Old Testament, the sacrifices were continuous, but since the animals dedicated to sacrifice were “imperfect in essence”, the sacrifices had to be repeated from time to time.

It covered specifically and only the people of “Israel”, while the other peoples, known as pagans or Gentiles, were totally excluded.

II. The sacrifice of the New Testament:

The unique sacrifice of the Lord Jesus when he left his glory and came as a man and became himself in oblation. In this way we are talking about the Lamb of God, “the one who is perfect”. Dispensing with the need for repetition, a single sacrifice (Heb 10:12).

Jesus’ sacrifice encompasses all the nations of the world, where everyone can recognize their sin, repent, ask for forgiveness and come to God in communion, which in the past only Israel could ask for forgiveness and come to God, but Jesus’ sacrifice was such a unique and special act of love that it changed and perfected the comprehensive bases.

Now even Gentiles (you and me) can recognize our mistakes and ask the Lord for forgiveness by crying out for his precious blood shed on the cross, come to God in communion in the Spirit and attain salvation.

In this brief moment, God wants me and you, his Faithful Church, to tirelessly announce to everyone that Jesus has the power to forgive sins, to save man’s soul, regardless of who he is or what he has done.

Thank God the second one was established! But this didn’t happen because we’re pretty or good, because there are several passages that refute this “Eccl 7:20, Rom 3:9-10, 1 Jn 5:19”. But do you know why? Because of God’s mercy:

“But God demonstrates his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
