Study on Salvation – I Peter 1:2

SALVATION – I Peter 1:2 (read together with the class – keep Bibles open)

SOTERIA (Heb. 2:1-4 “such great salvation” – “signs and wonders”)

The Word speaks of salvation as something that God makes available to man, so that he can appropriate all the benefits of that salvation.

These benefits are:

1 – Security

Prov. 11:14

2 – Happiness

Job 30:15

3 – Livramento

Ex. 14:13

4 – Victory

Psalm 44:4

5 – Preservation

Heb. 11:7

6 – Health / healing

Acts 27:24

7 – Eternal salvation

Isaiah 45:17 (global sense – eternity)

HOW DOES THE PROCESS OF SALVATION TAKE PLACE?

“Elected…”

A process of election. God elects man and enables him to believe in Him, to have faith in Him. It is not man who chooses God, but God who chooses man (John 14:16):

– It is God’s project for man

– It is programmed by God for man’s life.

– It is an act of God’s mercy towards man.

foreknowledge

“…according to the foreknowledge of God the Father…” This does not depend on man .

Jer. 1:5 –

“before you were formed in the womb I knew you…”

Jn. 4:19 –

“we love him because he first loved us”

Paulo:

Salvation from the womb: – “it pleased God to save me while I was still in the womb…”

HOW DO YOU FIND OUT ABOUT THE ELECTION?

1) –

ON THE CALL

Examples

Season

Form

Circumstances

Paulo

still young

a light

persecuting the Church

Samuel

boy

direct call

the temple lamp going out.

Moses

adult

the burning bush

persecuted to death by Pharaoh.

Some are called at a time of joy, pain, difficulty, etc.

Example of the call of the sister who was converted by the death of her son. “The Lord gave, the Lord took away…Job” Later: “I had to lose what was most precious to me in order to gain Jesus”

The call is not a change of religion. It’s an encounter with Jesus. It’s the moment when a person decides whether or not to accept salvation.

TWO OPTIONS: – accept or reject.

– Free will. Arbitrator (judge) of oneself. God created man a rational being.

“If you hear his voice today, do not harden your hearts”

ACCEPT:

– is to be on the path, in sanctification

– it’s letting the Holy Spirit direct my life

– acceptance is not imposed.

REJECT:

– is to get off the path, to reject sanctification

– God works and it is man who decides his life.

– The direction (government) of the Holy Spirit only takes place when we accept the call.

DYNAMICS OF THE CALL – “…in sanctification of the Spirit…”

This is the character (the purpose) of the call: SALVATION IN SANCTIFICATION.

The call will only be valid if I fulfill this purpose. If not, I’m nullifying everything.

> SANCTIFICATION: (religion has distorted this word)

Why is an understanding of sanctification important to us? Because “without sanctification…”

– clothes, gestures, words, appearance

– the figure of the “saint” in religion

– the question of exaggerations in habits and customs, such as sanctification:

– long clothes, long hair…(“long tongue”)

– a gradual process, where you get nice, nice until you get “nice”

Note: a person filled with the Holy Spirit is balanced and walks in a way that pleases the Lord. Man fights against sin and it is the Lord who gives the victory.

==> SANCTIFICATION: ( concept of the Word )

– It’s when the Holy Spirit directs my life; it’s when I walk in the revelation of the Holy Spirit

– It’s a daily struggle against the flesh to do the Lord’s will.

– It’s using the resource of crying out for the blood of Jesus every day.

– to see sin and turn away from it. (Holy = separated. From what? from the world)

It’s about benefiting every day from: victory, deliverance, health?

THIS IS WHAT IT MEANS TO HAVE FAITH IN THE LORD.

SALVATION IS: OBEDIENCE TO THE LORD

“…to obedience…”

Examples of the sanctification of Paul, Peter and Moses.

Together with many others, they were sanctified in their willingness to obey the Lord.

DYNAMIC SALVATION:

One act:

“once saved, saved forever”

A process:

man walks until he reaches eternity.

Lot:

walking to the escape hill

Paulo:

“not that I’ve already reached it, but I’m moving towards the goal…”

Jesus:

The way, the truth, the life, the water of life, the bread of life: this is dynamic.

STATIC SALVATION

Verse that religion tells you to memorize: “He who comes to me” (comes and keeps coming)

– water of life: every day – bread of life: every day.

Example of the buoy: what religion says: “you hit your hand and let go”

– He accepted the act, but rejected the process, in other words: salvation without sanctification.

THE SPRINKLING OF JESUS’ BLOOD

“…and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ.”

Deliverance from the Lord: The blessing being sprinkled on us every day.

Releases: the 7 Soteria items on the board.

Salvation is…

Personal experience with Jesus: Zacchaeus, the woman with the issue of blood.

It’s having intimacy with the Lord. (Tell about an experience of intimacy with the Lord).
