Sketch on the lost drachma – Preaching

Preaching Outline on Luke 15:8 Or what woman having ten drachmas, if she lose one drachma, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?”

SEARCH DILIGENTLY

Introduction to Luke 15:8

The drachma is an ancient silver coin used in Ancient Greece. It was an important unit of value and often featured symbols and images of Greek culture, making it a historical and cultural icon of Hellenic civilization.

The Drachmas can be compared to the blessings of the Lord, which the faithful servant has received, and what comes from the Lord, the servant, even in the face of struggles or tribulations, cannot lose in any way.

Development

The word tells us about a woman who lost a Drachma, missed it and worried because she no longer had the previous ten.

Ten speaks of man’s commitment to God

1st Attitude: He lit the lamp (heart). The house was dark, with no direction, but now there is fire (Holy Spirit).

2nd Attitude: Sweep the house, which speaks of the spiritual life, is to put the house in order in a way that pleases the Lord.

3rd Attitude: Search diligently, search intensely, pray, fast, read the Word.

The 10 drachmas remind us of the 10 commandments; it speaks volumes about a complete and unique project, but it ceases to be complete if one drachma is missing. This is also the Father’s plan for human life: we can have everything, but if we don’t have Jesus, the rest is worthless.

Conclusion of Luke 15:8

When he finds it, he gathers friends and neighbors.

Neighbors: People who don’t have access to the house (of the Father), those who don’t yet know the Lord. And the invitation is: Rejoice with me (Joy of Salvation).

When we encounter God’s greatest blessing for human life, who is Jesus, we come to understand that all other things are worthless; everything is complete with the Savior.
