God is not against prosperity and wealth, but the true Gospel makes us detach ourselves from material values and understand that the greatest value God has to give us is Salvation in Christ Jesus. That man could now taste the blessing of receiving the project of Salvation, in that instant he received a visible blessing that would change his material life and would also serve as a testimony to what God had done in his life.
