" "No meal offering that you offer to the Lord shall be made with leaven; for you shall not offer an offering made by fire to the Lord of any leaven or honey. " Introduction to Leviticus 2:1-11 We are meditating on some offerings in the Old Testament that point to the Perfect Offering - the Lord Jesus who gave himself for us on the cross of Calvary. The moral, ceremonial, social and spiritual Laws were given by Moses to the people, after he had received them from God, right after the Tabernacle was set up, even before the march through the desert from Mount Sinai to the land of Canaan began. Development The Lord, through the laws and ordinances, gave his people guidelines for worshipping in the Tabernacle, with a life of holiness and gratitude. We're going to meditate on one of these ordinances, of the offerings to the Lord, the Manger Offering, an offering of sacrifice, gratitude and thanksgiving, the only sacrifice where no blood was shed, because it typified the Lord Jesus in his life as a man, without sin, that is, his perfect humanity. It was an offering of worship in search of holiness. The word HOLY appears 93 times in the book of Leviticus, such was the importance the Lord attached to this act. The meal offering consisted of four elements: flour, oil, frankincense and salt. It was gratitude for the results of the work done for the Lord, gratitude for the food of each day. And just as the bloody burnt offering typified Jesus in his death for the remission of our sins, the meal offering typified Jesus in his perfect humanity, around which the Holy Spirit works. Flour, the basis of this offering, which speaks to us of the first fruits, reflected true obedience, loyalty to the Lord. The Lord wants the first fruits of our life, of our time, even of our struggles. The harvested wheat was put through a process and after the chaff was removed, it was ground. Jesus went through trials, persecutions, slander and punishment without having sinned at all. Isaiah 53:5 says it this way: "But he was wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement that brings us peace was upon him, and with his stripes we are healed. " The result of all this was the purest flour - the flour flower - the first fruits of the meal offering, the offering of loyal obedience, Jesus Christ, the perfect man . Oil, poured on the flower of flour, is a type of the Holy Spirit - the Lord Jesus who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, Luke 1 .35, and anointed with the Holy Spirit - (baptized with the Holy Spirit) - when He was baptized in water to carry out the Work. Luke 3.21-22 Incense, "... and he shall put incense on it. " - Leviticus 2.1 - and he shall bring it to the priests who shall burn it on the altar - it shall be a burnt offering - a sweet smell and a memorial to the Lord. Today we no longer offer this offering as it was, because the Lord Jesus fulfilled them all by giving himself as a Perfect Offering on behalf of the sinner, bringing forgiveness and eternal life, ETERNAL MEMORIAL. Our life, our praise, our dedication to the Lord's work always with gratitude, remembering the blessings, renewing in our hearts the desire to offer our work as a memorial, the first fruits of our life of holiness. The whole offering shall be without leaven or honey. Leviticus 2 :11 - Leaven is the human addition to doctrine that is holy, pure. Leaven is also a type of sin. Salt, our clean and sincere speech, seasoned - Colossians 4:6 - "Let your speech always be pleasant, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each one. " Let our speech be yes, yes , and no, no. In this way we will stand before the Father. - James 5:12 No honey, only the Lord knows what we are offering, the offering is for HIM, nothing to please man. To please God we cannot add our reason, the fruit of the human mind. Conclusion of Leviticus 2:1-11 Today the Lord is reminding us of this offering of worship of the first fruits of our lives, an offering of loyalty and obedience; at work, in church, at home, giving our lives in worship to the Lord, based on the perfect life of the Lord Jesus. The dedication to the Lord, the fruit of our labor in his work, the memorial will be to the Lord. The Lord reveals himself to Cornelius in Acts 10:4 and says: "Your prayers and your alms have gone up for a memorial before God. " God considers our prayers and actions a sacrifice that goes up to Him, Hebrews 13:15 and 16 tells us: "Therefore let us always offer a sacrifice of praise to God through him, that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name. " "And do not forget charity and communication, for with such sacrifices (offerings) God is pleased. " It will be a memorial offering to the Lord.
